W&O Supply and BROEN Clorius Controls have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at advancing energy-saving and CO2 emission reduction initiatives within the marine sector. As part of this collaboration, W&O Supply will incorporate low-leakage valves into its extensive portfolio, which already includes marine valves, actuated valves, pipes, and engineered solutions.
The newly introduced product is an ultra-low leak three-way valve, specifically engineered for High-Temperature (HT) systems on 2-stroke main engines. The valve boasts an impressive leakage rate of less than 0.01%, a significant improvement over most conventional valves, which typically have a leakage rate of 2% or more. By controlling the temperature in the HT-system of the main engine, the valve enhances system efficiency, thereby contributing to fuel savings and CO2 emission reductions.
The valve’s compact design facilitates easy and time-efficient replacements, allowing for retrofitting without the need for extensive modifications to existing pipework. Moreover, the valve can be replaced in situ at ports, eliminating the need for dry-docking the vessels.
Kristof Adam, Managing Director of W&O Europe, commented, “We are thrilled to introduce this low-leakage valve to the marine market. It serves as a crucial component in the broader decarbonisation strategy, enabling vessel owners and operators to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. Our global warehouses are strategically positioned to support our clients’ engineering teams, offering them tailored solutions to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving maritime industry.”
Niklas Trangbaek, International Sales Manager at BROEN Clorius Controls, added, “Our partnership with W&O Supply aligns perfectly with our commitment to energy savings and CO2 emission reductions. We are excited about our ongoing collaboration and are confident that our combined expertise will deliver unparalleled products and solutions to our customers.”
W&O Europe will showcase the Clorius valve at the Europort 2023 Exhibition in Rotterdam from 7th to 10th November, providing industry stakeholders an opportunity to view this innovative product at stand 1204.
